Later, I thought about it. I thought, "I've had so much rain this year, I've had a flood." Then I remembered that the first rainbow came after the biggest flood the world has ever known.
When I bring clouds over the earth and a rainbow appears in them, I will remember my agreement between me and you and every living thing. Floods will never again destroy all life on the earth. (Genesis 9:14–15)Today, I read this:
The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you don't just look at the rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colours you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum. (http://themetapicture.com/before-you-judge-others/)It's an amazing gift that we can see rainbows at all, that the tiny amount of light we can see means that after we experience the storm, we get a glimpse of something so beautiful. I know that more rain is coming, but I have the hope of one day seeing the rainbow.
